Alligator House Dance Party

Nothing terribly fancy here — just an hour’s worth of playing around, entertaining my nieces (ages 10 and 7) during a visit. But since this was my first mix in a few years, and I didn’t train wreck too horribly, I decided to go ahead and toss it up.

(“Alligator House” is the nickname for our home, as it’s green in color and the angled roof of the carport out front makes it look vaguely like an alligator.)

Difficult Listening Hour 07 (120BPM)

This weekend’s new practice mix. Every song in this mix is somewhere between 115 and 125 BPM. And as always, this was mixed “live” and has no post-processing or editing work, so while it may not be perfect, it’s all me!

  1. Collide ‘The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum’
  2. Depeche Mode ‘Halo (Comfortable)’
  3. Nitzer Ebb ‘Captivate’
  4. Art of Noise ‘Kiss (Art of Noise)’
  5. Eurythmics ‘Beethoven (I Love to Listen To) (Dance)’
  6. Erasure ‘Always (Hey)’
  7. Delerium ‘Flowers Become Screens (Frequency Modulation)’
  8. Echo and the Bunnymen ‘Bring On the Dancing Horses’
  9. Edelweiss ‘Bring Me Edelweiss (12″)’
  10. Young MC ‘Bust A Move’
  11. Rock Master Scott and the Dynamic Three ‘The Roof is On Fire’
  12. Blur ‘Girls and Boys (Pet Shop Boys)’
  13. Dee-Lite ‘Groove is In the Heart (Hot Tracks)’
  14. Lipps, Inc. ‘Funkytown ’91 (Hot Tracks)’
  15. Sarah Vaughan ‘Peter Gunn (Max Sedgley)’

Difficult Listening Hour 02v2

The second of my old collection of mix sessions that I’m posting. A little longer than the last one, and a little more pop-y. There actually was a ‘v1’ of this mix, but it had a few slight flaws that I wanted to fix, and I ended up choosing a slightly different set of tracks to use (though, I may have simply introduced new flaws…so it goes). Hence, ‘v2’.

  1. Faithless ‘Salva Mea’
  2. Transister ‘Head (Hot Tracks)’
  3. Dee-Lite ‘Groove is in the Heart (Van Helden ’99)’
  4. Madonna ‘Music (Deep Dish Dot Com)’
  5. Sarah McLachlan ‘Possession (Rabbit in the Moon)’
  6. DJ Icey ‘This is How My Drummer Drums’
  7. The Crystal Method ‘Busy Child’
  8. Wink ‘Higher State of Consciousness (Itty Bitty Boozy Woozy/vs. Public Enemy)’
  9. Underworld ‘Rez’

This mix was mixed ‘live’ — running a Pioneer dual CD mixer directly into my computer and recording straight to .mp3 — and has had no post-mix editing done in the computer. As such, it’s not flawless, but it’s not bad, either, if I do say so myself.
